My Old Favorites II

This is another my old favorites titled "life in a northern town" by dream academy. - I really loved this band, unlike to the other bands, as I remember, all the members in this group might major in classic. I found this video clip by chance. Starting from the black and white screen, a singer in gypsy style fronted and sang. Enjoy it. - Daniel like to follow refrain of this song (smile).

Year End Banquet of School

In the last thursday, a delightful phone call made me happy. It's from my senior. He has stayed in the U.S as an faculty member. The last time when I saw him is at conference in toulouse, france, icassp 2006. Well, he is always modest, and has given good advices to me, and I also love his sense of humour (smile).
He told me that he stopped by Korea during winter vacation, and if I was free on the friday night, he suggested me to join year end banquet at school. To tell the truth, I wouldn't join there due to it's early starting, traffic jam on the friday night and so on.

Anyway, eventually, I joined year end banquet. - oh my god! who's who? It's already passed six years when I left to school. I didn't know most of students. It was really nice time to see friends, who I couldn't see often.

Posting 100th

Yeah, it's the 100th posting. I'm going to end at least more than 100th. Well, actually, in this year, it's really tough when it's compared with the other past years.
I know it's true that there has been good news and bad news wherever I have been. But, I've seen more the latter. - I've seen what I shouldn't know, sad. I think that this is time that I need change. Though I can make it or not, I've wished lucks. Happy happy new year and congratulation on the 100th posting ...

Google's Services Unlit

What's the end of google's brilliant service ? But, all of the services were not successful. Here are some lists, which cease without spotlight. Personally, I'm really sad that google stopped voice search. As one of people, who is involved in the field of speech recognition ...

1. Google Keyboard Shortcuts (2002) - use your keyboard to navigate between search results.

2. Google Voice Search (2002) - search Google with a telephone call. This way you don't have to type queries, while Google uses voice recognition.

3. Google Viewer (2002) - view Google results as a slide show. Google Toolbar has this feature, but it doesn't move to the next result automatically.

4. Google Webquotes (2002) - see comments about a web page.

5. Google Compute (2002) - an add-on for Google Toolbar that allowed you to use your computer's resources to help research projects (the program worked only when your computer was idle). "When you enable Google Compute, your computer will download a small piece of a large research project and perform calculations on it that will then be included with the calculations performed by thousands of other computers doing the same thing. This process is known as distributed computing."

6. Google Answers (2002) - get answers from researchers for a fee. The product was closed in November this year.

7. Google Search API (2002) - a SOAP API that allowed developers to integrate Google's search results into their applications. The product is now deprecated.

8. Google Deskbar (2003) - search Google from your desktop and see search results in a mini-viewer. The product has been integrated into Google Desktop.

9. Google X (2005) - a Mac-like interface for Google. The page has been live only for a day and it has been removed to prevent a suit from Apple.

10. Google Video (initial version) - search the content of television shows. Google recorded the TV programs and allowed people to search closed captions and see images from the show. You couldn't play videos.

iPhone Unveils a Little Bit More ?

Here is the another interesting article, which is about unveiling of apple's iphone. The writer said he couldn't sure whether it's REAL leak of iphone or not. But, I think that it seemed to be quite believable ...

Who ever coined the phrase “the devil is in the details” must of have been a genius. When I got the tip in for the image of the Mobile Me phone below, I immediately resized and crop the image without even bothering to look at the “whole” picture. Keep in mind that I got two tips in right around the same time; one was the video and this one. All this took place about 2 hours prior to announcement of the iPhone by Linksys. Looking over the image now, I missed a few key details. Do you notice the blurb on the bottom left?

DIY MP3 Player

In every month, tons of new mp3 players come out in the market. Is it exaggerated a little, though, right ? (smile). Anyway, If you're already owner of it, ask yourself how much you're satisfied with it. Aren't you satisfied ? Here it is, daisy mp3 player kit.

Looking for a weekend project, or haven't found a music player that'll satisfy your inner creative geek? Well, meet MAKE's Daisy MP3 Player Kit, an open-source setup that'll play MP3 and WAV files all from one little chip board. Of course, this is a kit, not a full-fledged player, meaning Daisy comes in parts -- you'll have to give it a power source and a case should you want to actually use it in the real world. You can buy whole kit (the caboodle is extra) from MAKE or direct from its Oakland-based creator for $115. By the way, if you manage to strap the Daisy to some sunglasses or other headwear, we figure that would place you right smack in the middle of the wearable MP3 spectrum, which ranges from the ridiculous iSoundCap to the sublime DIY Oakley Thump shades.

GooglePhone ?

It seems that the market of mobile devices is considered to blue ocean. Subsequently confirming the apple will release iphone, another rumour has been floated that google is going to get into the market of mobile devices by being teamed up with orange.

Are Google and Orange pairing up to make our secret mobile nerd dreams come true by introducing a Googlephone? There's nothing official yet, but the Observer reports that the two companies are in talks about producing a Google-branded cellphone that would come pre-loaded with mobile versions of Google apps like Google Earth, Gmail, etc.

Daniel Got Christmas Gifts from Grand Mamas ...

Daniel seemed to be so happy because he got what he wanted as christmas gifts from two grand mamas (smile). - James from the maternal grandma, and Spencer from the grandma.
For a grand son, I thought two grand mamas spent too much money. Personally, I wonder how long these two will be with daniel (smile). Actually, he lost so many trains in the series of thomas and friends - thomas, james (he lost it after a day passed when I had bought for him.), and henry. Anyway, I think that he should keep thanks to them in his mind after he grows up.

Frustrated ...

Sometimes, I told white lies. Well, how can I explain ... For example, if someone starts conversaion, but, unfortunately, it's about the topics, which I really really don't want to get into it. For example, salary, real estate and too private stuffs.
When it comes to the notion of westen culture, as I know, these sort of questions could be too rude. I don't mean that I'm oriented to the western culture. But, in my culture, these sort of questions are very deserved to be asked. Today, I met my old friends by chance, and had dinner together. I was faced with the above-mentioned situation. Things that made me so depressed was that I was felt like being offended by my white lies, even though from someone who is vey close to me. At that moment, I was like falling down to faint. Frustrated, and sad ...

So, he made good excuse whenever he wanted to play with water spray. Sometimes, he rushed by spraying to me - he might think that he feeded on me. Thanks daniel !(smile)

Organising Schedule

Organising schedule ... Have you ever seen words in the magazine, newspaper or something, which said people who succeeded in their life had in common. They quite well organise their life, and bla bla. Oh, it's like an copywrite of franklin planner (smile). Anyway, organising schedule and doing followed by it, they are not that much easy one. - people usually start it at the beginning of the year, record and organise every single trivial stuffs, and give up by exhausting ... Actually, this is my story (smile).

Recently, many softwares have come out and help people with organising schedules such as apple's icalendar, google's calendar, and so on. Here is another one, which is managed by young australians. The schedule organiser named remember the milk- quite bizarre name, supports most of functionalies, which other schedulers do. But, it's unique by merging the schedulers and maps. - Unfortunately, it's not that much useful in korea because when it comes to the map, it relies on google api. - you know, the google map is lacking of geographical info. in koea (smile). In addition, I also sensed by its user interface that it has adopted large portions of google api.

Anyway, it's a quite good idea by introducing maps info. in the shceduler. I recommand to try it to people who're intrested in.

Condolence & Hope

Here are two stories. The first one, as you already well knew, is about cnet senior editor, james kim. I believe his devotion to his family saved his wife and two daughters. Humm, I also asked myself what I would do if I were in that situation. Did I do such as what james did for his family ? Of course, at this moment, I said yes. But, nobody knows how situation turn people ... - honestly, I wouldn't stay cool and I'm likely to be easily swayed.

The second story is about a man who has suffered from a sort of cancer. His wife is a nurse in the hospitol where he regularly has taken physical examination. Blaming for her job, she well knows how her husband's status is. She was distressed by staying between as role of wife and as role of nurse. A man who has been looking his wife, felt sorry to his wife and family ... A series of stuffs, which aren't explained well, are mixed up together, and made me move ...

The both of stories has in common. - "FAMILY". Nothing can't be in place of it. But, I think that people would easily forget the preciousness of it. Recently, I think that I didn't pay more attention to my family by making excuse for busy works - headed for office too early and turning back home too late ... Today, I shoud go home a little bit earlier, and have time with my family ...

Finally, I would end up by giving condolence to james kim's family and wishing hope to mr. ha's family. I belive that he would surely kick it off ...

An image of james kim is from the link, and that of mr.ha is from the link.

100GB iPod in the Next Year ?

Apple's ipod has adopted toshiba drives in it. Most of people know it. Recently, toshiba announced new 100GB models of a small hard drive. Though, now, a toshiba representative wouldn't comment on the plans about 1.8 inch drive, and neither does apple on the possibility of adopting it, Apple might be likely to do (smile).

However, Apple uses Toshiba drives in its higher-end iPods and has historically snapped up the latest models. Most recently, it added an 80GB version of its video iPod in September.

Products using the new drives are expected to be on sale in the first quarter of 2007, the Toshiba representative said.

The drives, like their predecessors, have two platters for stashing data and use perpendicular recording technology to increase the amount of data that can be stored in a given surface area. They spin at 4,200 revolutions per minute and can transfer 100 megabytes of data per second.

Moving from 80GB to 100GB would mean an iPod capacity increase from roughly 20,000 songs to 25,000 songs, going by Apple's standard measurements.

I still suffer from the problems, which is invisible "compose and html" buttons. I looked through blogger home page and found some lines as below:

Some users on the beta may experience icons disappearing on the post editor and/or trouble uploading images. Cleaning the browser's cache or on Windows force reloading the page by pressing Ctrl-F5 fixes this problem.

Oh, is it a browser cache problem ? before I posted previous posts, I tried it tons of time, even though I tried it in some other computers. As a result, there is no change. I want buzz to give users of blogger beta a sincere answer.
